Duas for family and protection

Congratulating newlyweds, seeking protection on arriving somewhere, asking for a family that brings joy.

Family has its duas: the blessing wished upon newlyweds, the protection sought on arriving somewhere, the dua before spouses come together, and the verse in which the servants of the Most Merciful ask for spouses and children who are a joy to the eyes. Each text carries its source.

The duas

  1. For the protection of your children

I place you both under the protection of the perfect words of Allah against every devil, every harmful creature, and every evil eye. (For one child, say: u'îdhuka.)

I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah, which neither the righteous nor the wicked can overstep: from the evil of what He has created, formed and brought forth; from the evil of what descends from the sky and of what rises up to it; from the evil of what He has spread over the earth and of what comes out of it; from the evil of the trials of night and day; and from the evil of every visitor of the night, except one who visits with good, O Ar-Rahmân.
