About Tilawa
An app to recite the Quran correctly, and a site to read it, listen to it and understand it.
Tilawa is an iPhone and Android app that listens to your Quran recitation and corrects it word by word, with two tutors, Omar and Noor. It also helps you memorize, surah by surah. This site, tilawa.ai, lets you read and listen to the Quran in tajweed colours and learn the rules with examples.
What the app does
Start again as many times as you like; nobody judges. Every level is welcome: no knowledge of tajweed is needed to begin.
-
Recite
Open a surah and recite out loud. The words light up on the mushaf as you go.
-
I correct you
Skipped, swapped or mispronounced words, and the rules applied or missed, with the right recitation to listen to again.
-
Memorize
The verses hide, you recite from memory, and I show you what slipped. Surah by surah, juz by juz.
-
Talk with me
Write to me or call me on video: the meaning of a verse, a rule, how to say a word. I answer you, out loud.
Omar and Noor, your tutors
Omar and Noor are the two tutors of the app. They are AI-powered tutors, not real people. You choose one of them: your tutor listens to you recite, shows you the word or rule to work on, and explains it simply.
You can also write or dictate your questions: the meaning of a verse, a tajweed rule, how to say a word, what to recite next.

What guides Tilawa
- The Quran first: its text is never typed by hand. It comes from verified data.
- Kindness: your tutor never hands down a verdict. When a word slips, it shows you the word and helps you try again.
- Honesty: we only promise what the app does today, and a reported mistake gets corrected.
