2 rules · 32,422times in the Quran

A hamzah at the start of a word is of two kinds. Hamzat al-qatʿ (أ إ ء) is always said, when starting and when joining. Hamzat al-wasl (ٱ) is said only when you begin on its word; coming from the word before, you pass without it. Its starting vowel depends on the word.
