Your questions

How does memorization mode work?

The verses hide and you recite from memory. I show you the forgotten or swapped words where they belong, then you go over the passage again.

Where should I start memorizing?

Often with Juz ʿAmma, the short surahs at the end of the Quran. Our guide gives you a day-by-day plan, from the shortest to the longest.

Can I revise what I already know?

Yes, surah by surah or juz by juz. Reciting from memory shows straight away what is starting to fade.

What if I cannot read Arabic well yet?

Listen first, and read with the transliteration in the app’s mushaf. Then move on to memorization, one verse after another.

Is there a web or desktop version?

No. Tilawa is an app for iPhone, iPad and Android, because it listens to you through the microphone while you recite. On a computer, this site lets you read and listen to the Quran with colour-coded tajweed. To recite and get corrected, scan the QR code with your phone.
