Frequently asked questions

Where do the questions come from?

From the text of the Madani Mushaf, Hafs reading. Each right answer is the rule the word carries, as on the rule pages. Level 1: Al-Fatiha and juz 30. Level 2: juz 26 to juz 29. Level 3: the rest of the Quran.

Which words are left out?

Words where two rules sit on the same letters, words where a pause sign separates the two letters of a rule (at a stop, the letters are not joined), and cases read in two transmitted ways, such as the qaf before the kaf in Surah Al-Mursalat (77:20).

How do I print the exercises?

The “Print with the answer key” button prints the sets on screen, then their answer key on a separate page. “New set” changes the questions, and the key follows.

How can I check my tajweed when I recite?

Tajweed is learned by ear: you need to hear yourself. Recite out loud in the Tilawa app, on iPhone or Android. It follows your recitation word by word and shows you the rules you missed or got wrong, with the correct recitation to replay.
