۞ لِّلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُواْ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ وَزِيَادَةٌۖ وَلَا يَرْهَقُ وُجُوهَهُمْ قَتَرٌ وَلَا ذِلَّةٌۚ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْجَنَّةِۖ هُمْ فِيهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ ﴿٢٦﴾
Word-by-word
۞ لِّلَّذِينَ
lilladhīna
For those who
أَحْسَنُوا۟
aḥsanū
do good
ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ
l-ḥus'nā
(is) the best
وَزِيَادَةٌۭ ۖ
waziyādatun
and more
وَلَا
walā
And not
يَرْهَقُ
yarhaqu
(will) cover
وُجُوهَهُمْ
wujūhahum
their faces
قَتَرٌۭ
qatarun
dust
وَلَا
walā
and not
ذِلَّةٌ ۚ
dhillatun
humiliation
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāika
Those
أَصْحَـٰبُ
aṣḥābu
(are the) companions
ٱلْجَنَّةِ ۖ
l-janati
(of) Paradise
هُمْ
hum
they
فِيهَا
fīhā
in it
خَـٰلِدُونَ
khālidūna
(will) abide forever
وَٱلَّذِينَ كَسَبُواْ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔـاتِ جَزَآءُ سَيِّئَةِۭ بِمِثْلِهَا وَتَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌۖ مَّا لَهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِنْ عَاصِمٍۖ كَأَنَّمَآ أُغْشِيَتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ قِطَعًا مِّنَ ٱلَّيْلِ مُظْلِمًاۚ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلنَّارِۖ هُمْ فِيهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ ﴿٢٧﴾
Word-by-word
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
And those who
كَسَبُوا۟
kasabū
earned
ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ
l-sayiāti
the evil deeds
جَزَآءُ
jazāu
(the) recompense
سَيِّئَةٍۭ
sayyi-atin
(of) an evil deed
بِمِثْلِهَا
bimith'lihā
(is) like it
وَتَرْهَقُهُمْ
watarhaquhum
and (will) cover them
ذِلَّةٌۭ ۖ
dhillatun
humiliation
مَّا
mā
They will not have
لَهُم
lahum
They will not have
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
مِنْ
min
any
عَاصِمٍۢ ۖ
ʿāṣimin
defender
كَأَنَّمَآ
ka-annamā
As if
أُغْشِيَتْ
ugh'shiyat
had been covered
وُجُوهُهُمْ
wujūhuhum
their faces
قِطَعًۭا
qiṭaʿan
(with) pieces
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱلَّيْلِ
al-layli
the darkness (of) night
مُظْلِمًا ۚ
muẓ'liman
the darkness (of) night
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāika
Those
أَصْحَـٰبُ
aṣḥābu
(are the) companions
ٱلنَّارِ ۖ
l-nāri
(of) the Fire
هُمْ
hum
they
فِيهَا
fīhā
in it
خَـٰلِدُونَ
khālidūna
(will) abide forever
وَيَوْمَ نَحْشُرُهُمْ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ نَقُولُ لِلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُواْ مَكَانَكُمْ أَنتُمْ وَشُرَكَآؤُكُمْۚ فَزَيَّلْنَا بَيْنَهُمْۖ وَقَالَ شُرَكَآؤُهُم مَّا كُنتُمْ إِيَّانَا تَعْبُدُونَ ﴿٢٨﴾

وَيَوْمَ
wayawma
And (the) Day
نَحْشُرُهُمْ
naḥshuruhum
We will gather them
جَمِيعًۭا
jamīʿan
all together
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
نَقُولُ
naqūlu
We will say
لِلَّذِينَ
lilladhīna
to those who
أَشْرَكُوا۟
ashrakū
associate partners (with Allah)
مَكَانَكُمْ
makānakum
(Remain in) your place
أَنتُمْ
antum
you
وَشُرَكَآؤُكُمْ ۚ
washurakāukum
and your partners
فَزَيَّلْنَا
fazayyalnā
Then We will separate
بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ
baynahum
[between] them
وَقَالَ
waqāla
and (will) say
شُرَكَآؤُهُم
shurakāuhum
their partners
مَّا
mā
Not
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you used (to)
إِيَّانَا
iyyānā
worship us
تَعْبُدُونَ
taʿbudūna
worship us
فَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِيدَۢا بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمْ إِن كُنَّا عَنْ عِبَادَتِكُمْ لَغَـٰفِلِينَ ﴿٢٩﴾

So sufficient
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
(is) Allah
شَهِيدًۢا
shahīdan
(as) a witness
بَيْنَنَا
baynanā
between us
وَبَيْنَكُمْ
wabaynakum
and between you
إِن
in
that
كُنَّا
kunnā
we were
عَنْ
ʿan
of
عِبَادَتِكُمْ
ʿibādatikum
your worship
لَغَـٰفِلِينَ
laghāfilīna
certainly unaware
هُنَالِكَ تَبْلُواْ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَّآ أَسْلَفَتْۚ وَرُدُّوٓاْ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ مَوْلَـٰهُمُ ٱلْحَقِّۖ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يَفْتَرُونَ ﴿٣٠﴾

will be put to trial

وَرُدُّوٓا۟

and they will be returned
إِلَى
ilā

ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
مَوْلَىٰهُمُ
mawlāhumu
their Lord
ٱلْحَقِّ ۖ
l-ḥaqi
the true
وَضَلَّ
waḍalla
and will be lost
عَنْهُم
ʿanhum
from them
مَّا
mā
what
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they used (to)
يَفْتَرُونَ
yaftarūna
invent
قُلْ مَن يَرْزُقُكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ أَمَّن يَمْلِكُ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرَ وَمَن يُخْرِجُ ٱلْحَىَّ مِنَ ٱلْمَيِّتِ وَيُخْرِجُ ٱلْمَيِّتَ مِنَ ٱلْحَىِّ وَمَن يُدَبِّرُ ٱلْأَمْرَۚ فَسَيَقُولُونَ ٱللَّهُۚ فَقُلْ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ﴿٣١﴾

provides for you

ٱلسَّمَآءِ

وَٱلْأَرْضِ

Or who
يَمْلِكُ
yamliku
controls
ٱلسَّمْعَ
l-samʿa
the hearing
وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرَ
wal-abṣāra
and the sight
وَمَن
waman
And who
يُخْرِجُ
yukh'riju
brings out
ٱلْحَىَّ
l-ḥaya
the living
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلْمَيِّتِ
l-mayiti
the dead
وَيُخْرِجُ
wayukh'riju
and brings forth
ٱلْمَيِّتَ
l-mayita
the dead
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلْحَىِّ
l-ḥayi
the living
وَمَن
waman
And who
يُدَبِّرُ
yudabbiru
disposes
ٱلْأَمْرَ ۚ
l-amra
the affairs
فَسَيَقُولُونَ
fasayaqūlūna
Then they will say
ٱللَّهُ ۚ
l-lahu
Allah
فَقُلْ
faqul
Then say
أَفَلَا
afalā
Then will not
تَتَّقُونَ
tattaqūna
you fear (Him)
فَذَٲلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلْحَقُّۖ فَمَاذَا بَعْدَ ٱلْحَقِّ إِلَّا ٱلضَّلَـٰلُۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُصْرَفُونَ ﴿٣٢﴾

For that
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
(is) Allah
رَبُّكُمُ
rabbukumu
your Lord
ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ
l-ḥaqu
the true
فَمَاذَا

So what (can be)
بَعْدَ
baʿda
after
ٱلْحَقِّ
l-ḥaqi
the truth
إِلَّا
illā
except
ٱلضَّلَـٰلُ ۖ
l-ḍalālu
the error
فَأَنَّىٰ
fa-annā
So how
تُصْرَفُونَ
tuṣ'rafūna
(are) you turned away
كَذَٲلِكَ حَقَّتْ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ فَسَقُوٓاْ أَنَّهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿٣٣﴾

قُلْ هَلْ مِن شُرَكَآئِكُم مَّن يَبْدَؤُاْ ٱلْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُۥۚ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ يَبْدَؤُاْ ٱلْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُۥۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُؤْفَكُونَ ﴿٣٤﴾

تُؤْفَكُونَ

you are deluded
قُلْ هَلْ مِن شُرَكَآئِكُم مَّن يَهْدِىٓ إِلَى ٱلْحَقِّۚ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ يَهْدِى لِلْحَقِّۗ أَفَمَن يَهْدِىٓ إِلَى ٱلْحَقِّ أَحَقُّ أَن يُتَّبَعَ أَمَّن لَّا يَهِدِّىٓ إِلَّآ أَن يُهْدَىٰۖ فَمَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ ﴿٣٥﴾

aḥaqqu
more worthy
أَن
an
that
يُتَّبَعَ
yuttabaʿa
he should be followed
أَمَّن
amman
or (he) who
لَّا
lā
(does) not
يَهِدِّىٓ
yahiddī
guide
إِلَّآ
illā
unless
أَن
an
[that]
يُهْدَىٰ ۖ
yuh'dā
he is guided
فَمَا
famā
Then what
لَكُمْ
lakum
(is) for you
كَيْفَ
kayfa
how
تَحْكُمُونَ
taḥkumūna
you judge
وَمَا يَتَّبِعُ أَكْثَرُهُمْ إِلَّا ظَنًّاۚ إِنَّ ٱلظَّنَّ لَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ شَيْــًٔاۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمُۢ بِمَا يَفْعَلُونَ ﴿٣٦﴾

عَلِيمٌۢ

(is) All-Knower
بِمَا
bimā
of what
يَفْعَلُونَ
yafʿalūna
they do
وَمَا كَانَ هَـٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانُ أَن يُفْتَرَىٰ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَـٰكِن تَصْدِيقَ ٱلَّذِى بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَتَفْصِيلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ مِن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ﴿٣٧﴾

وَلَـٰكِن

تَصْدِيقَ

(it is) a confirmation
ٱلَّذِى

(of that) which
بَيْنَ
bayna
(was) before it
يَدَيْهِ
yadayhi
(was) before it
وَتَفْصِيلَ
watafṣīla
and a detailed explanation
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
l-kitābi
(of) the Book
لَا
lā
(there is) no
رَيْبَ
rayba
doubt
فِيهِ
fīhi
in it
مِن
min
from
رَّبِّ
rabbi
(the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
l-ʿālamīna
(of) the worlds
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ ٱفْتَرَٮٰهُۖ قُلْ فَأْتُواْ بِسُورَةٍ مِّثْلِهِۦ وَٱدْعُواْ مَنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ ﴿٣٨﴾

مِّثْلِهِۦ

like it
وَٱدْعُوا۟
wa-id'ʿū
and call
مَنِ
mani
whoever
ٱسْتَطَعْتُم
is'taṭaʿtum
you can
مِّن
min
besides Allah
دُونِ
dūni
besides Allah
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
besides Allah
إِن
in
if
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you are
صَـٰدِقِينَ
ṣādiqīna
truthful
بَلْ كَذَّبُواْ بِمَا لَمْ يُحِيطُواْ بِعِلْمِهِۦ وَلَمَّا يَأْتِهِمْ تَأْوِيلُهُۥۚ كَذَٲلِكَ كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْۖ فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ ﴿٣٩﴾

تَأْوِيلُهُۥ ۚ
tawīluhu

كَذَٰلِكَ
kadhālika
Thus
كَذَّبَ
kadhaba
denied
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those
مِن
min
before them
قَبْلِهِمْ ۖ
qablihim
before them
فَٱنظُرْ
fa-unẓur
then see
كَيْفَ
kayfa
how
كَانَ
kāna
was
عَـٰقِبَةُ
ʿāqibatu
(the) end
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīna
(of) the wrongdoers
وَمِنْهُم مَّن يُؤْمِنُ بِهِۦ وَمِنْهُم مَّن لَّا يُؤْمِنُ بِهِۦۚ وَرَبُّكَ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ ﴿٤٠﴾

And your Lord
أَعْلَمُ
aʿlamu
(is) All-Knower
بِٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ
bil-muf'sidīna
of the corrupters
وَإِن كَذَّبُوكَ فَقُل لِّى عَمَلِى وَلَكُمْ عَمَلُكُمْۖ أَنتُم بَرِيٓــُٔونَ مِمَّآ أَعْمَلُ وَأَنَا۟ بَرِىٓءٌ مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ ﴿٤١﴾

(are) my deeds
وَلَكُمْ

(are) your deeds
أَنتُم

You
بَرِيٓـُٔونَ

(are) disassociated
مِمَّآ
mimmā
from what
أَعْمَلُ
aʿmalu
I do
وَأَنَا۠
wa-anā
and I am
بَرِىٓءٌۭ
barīon
disassociated
مِّمَّا
mimmā
from what
تَعْمَلُونَ
taʿmalūna
you do
وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَسْتَمِعُونَ إِلَيْكَۚ أَفَأَنتَ تُسْمِعُ ٱلصُّمَّ وَلَوْ كَانُواْ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ ﴿٤٢﴾

listen
إِلَيْكَ ۚ

أَفَأَنتَ

cause the deaf to hear
ٱلصُّمَّ
l-ṣuma
cause the deaf to hear
وَلَوْ
walaw
even though
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they [were]
لَا
lā
(do) not
يَعْقِلُونَ
yaʿqilūna
use reason
وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَنظُرُ إِلَيْكَۚ أَفَأَنتَ تَهْدِى ٱلْعُمْىَ وَلَوْ كَانُواْ لَا يُبْصِرُونَ ﴿٤٣﴾

the blind
وَلَوْ
walaw
even though
كَانُوا۟

they [were]
لَا

(do) not
يُبْصِرُونَ
yub'ṣirūna
see
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَظْلِمُ ٱلنَّاسَ شَيْــًٔا وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱلنَّاسَ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ ﴿٤٤﴾

wrong themselves
وَيَوْمَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ كَأَن لَّمْ يَلْبَثُوٓاْ إِلَّا سَاعَةً مِّنَ ٱلنَّهَارِ يَتَعَارَفُونَ بَيْنَهُمْۚ قَدْ خَسِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِلِقَآءِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا كَانُواْ مُهْتَدِينَ ﴿٤٥﴾

He will gather them

they had not remained
يَلْبَثُوٓا۟

سَاعَةًۭ

an hour
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلنَّهَارِ
l-nahāri
the day
يَتَعَارَفُونَ
yataʿārafūna
they will recognize each other
بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ
baynahum
between them
قَدْ
qad
Certainly
خَسِرَ
khasira
(will have) lost
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
كَذَّبُوا۟
kadhabū
denied
بِلِقَآءِ
biliqāi
the meeting
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(with) Allah
وَمَا
wamā
and not
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they were
مُهْتَدِينَ

وَإِمَّا نُرِيَنَّكَ بَعْضَ ٱلَّذِى نَعِدُهُمْ أَوْ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ فَإِلَيْنَا مَرْجِعُهُمْ ثُمَّ ٱللَّهُ شَهِيدٌ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ ﴿٤٦﴾

wa-immā
And whether
نُرِيَنَّكَ
nuriyannaka
We show you
بَعْضَ
baʿḍa
some
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
(of) that which
نَعِدُهُمْ
naʿiduhum
We promised them
أَوْ
aw
or
نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ
natawaffayannaka
We cause you to die
فَإِلَيْنَا
fa-ilaynā
then to Us
مَرْجِعُهُمْ
marjiʿuhum
(is) their return
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
شَهِيدٌ
shahīdun
(is) a Witness
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
over
مَا
mā
what
يَفْعَلُونَ
yafʿalūna
they do
وَلِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ رَّسُولٌۖ فَإِذَا جَآءَ رَسُولُهُمْ قُضِىَ بَيْنَهُم بِٱلْقِسْطِ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ ﴿٤٧﴾

رَّسُولٌۭ ۖ

فَإِذَا

بَيْنَهُم

between them
بِٱلْقِسْطِ
bil-qis'ṭi
in justice
وَهُمْ

and they
لَا
lā
(will) not
يُظْلَمُونَ
yuẓ'lamūna
be wronged
وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَـٰذَا ٱلْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ ﴿٤٨﴾

And they say

ٱلْوَعْدُ

the promise (be fulfilled)

صَـٰدِقِينَ

truthful
قُل لَّآ أَمْلِكُ لِنَفْسِى ضَرًّا وَلَا نَفْعًا إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُۗ لِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلٌۚ إِذَا جَآءَ أَجَلُهُمْ فَلَا يَسْتَــْٔخِرُونَ سَاعَةًۖ وَلَا يَسْتَقْدِمُونَ ﴿٤٩﴾

جَآءَ

comes
أَجَلُهُمْ
ajaluhum
their term
فَلَا
falā
then not
يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ
yastakhirūna
they remain behind
سَاعَةًۭ ۖ
sāʿatan
an hour
وَلَا
walā
and not
يَسْتَقْدِمُونَ
yastaqdimūna
they can precede (it)
قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَتَـٰكُمْ عَذَابُهُۥ بَيَـٰتًا أَوْ نَهَارًا مَّاذَا يَسْتَعْجِلُ مِنْهُ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ ﴿٥٠﴾
