بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1

صٓ‌ۚ وَٱلْقُرْءَانِ ذِى ٱلذِّكْرِ ﴿١﴾

كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّن قَرْنٍ فَنَادَواْ وَّلَاتَ حِينَ مَنَاصٍ ﴿٣﴾

وَعَجِبُوٓاْ أَن جَآءَهُم مُّنذِرٌ مِّنْهُمْ‌ۖ وَقَالَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ هَـٰذَا سَـٰحِرٌ كَذَّابٌ ﴿٤﴾

وَعَجِبُوٓا۟

waʿajibū

And they wonder

أَن

جَآءَهُم

jāahum

has come to them

مُّنذِرٌۭ

mundhirun

a warner

مِّنْهُمْ ۖ

min'hum

from themselves

وَقَالَ

waqāla

And said

ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ

l-kāfirūna

the disbelievers

هَـٰذَا

hādhā

This

سَـٰحِرٌۭ

sāḥirun

(is) a magician

كَذَّابٌ

kadhābun

a liar

5

أَجَعَلَ ٱلْأَلِهَةَ إِلَـٰهًا وَٲحِدًا‌ۖ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَشَىْءٌ عُجَابٌ ﴿٥﴾

ٱلْـَٔالِهَةَ

إِلَـٰهًۭا

وَٰحِدًا ۖ

لَشَىْءٌ

(is) certainly a thing

عُجَابٌۭ

ʿujābun

6

وَٱنطَلَقَ ٱلْمَلَأُ مِنْهُمْ أَنِ ٱمْشُواْ وَٱصْبِرُواْ عَلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِكُمْ‌ۖ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَشَىْءٌ يُرَادُ ﴿٦﴾

وَٱنطَلَقَ

wa-inṭalaqa

And went forth

ٱلْمَلَأُ

l-mala-u

the chiefs

مِنْهُمْ

min'hum

among them

أَنِ

ani

that

ٱمْشُوا۟

وَٱصْبِرُوا۟

wa-iṣ'birū

and be patient

عَلَىٰٓ

ʿalā

ءَالِهَتِكُمْ ۖ

ālihatikum

your gods

إِنَّ

inna

Indeed

هَـٰذَا

hādhā

this

لَشَىْءٌۭ

lashayon

(is) certainly a thing

يُرَادُ

yurādu

intended

7

مَا سَمِعْنَا بِهَـٰذَا فِى ٱلْمِلَّةِ ٱلْأَخِرَةِ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا ٱخْتِلَـٰقٌ ﴿٧﴾

but

ٱخْتِلَـٰقٌ

ikh'tilāqun

a fabrication

8

أَءُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلذِّكْرُ مِنۢ بَيْنِنَا‌ۚ بَلْ هُمْ فِى شَكٍّ مِّن ذِكْرِى‌ۖ بَل لَّمَّا يَذُوقُواْ عَذَابِ ﴿٨﴾

9

أَمْ عِندَهُمْ خَزَآئِنُ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْوَهَّابِ ﴿٩﴾

أَمْ لَهُم مُّلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا‌ۖ فَلْيَرْتَقُواْ فِى ٱلْأَسْبَـٰبِ ﴿١٠﴾

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

وَٱلْأَرْضِ

(is) between them

فَلْيَرْتَقُوا۟

Then let them ascend

ٱلْأَسْبَـٰبِ

11

جُندٌ مَّا هُنَالِكَ مَهْزُومٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَحْزَابِ ﴿١١﴾

وَثَمُودُ وَقَوْمُ لُوطٍ وَأَصْحَـٰبُ لْــَٔيْكَةِ‌ۚ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلْأَحْزَابُ ﴿١٣﴾

وَأَصْحَـٰبُ

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

ٱلْأَحْزَابُ

l-aḥzābu

(were) the companies

14

إِن كُلٌّ إِلَّا كَذَّبَ ٱلرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ عِقَابِ ﴿١٤﴾

وَقَالُواْ رَبَّنَا عَجِّل لَّنَا قِطَّنَا قَبْلَ يَوْمِ ٱلْحِسَابِ ﴿١٦﴾

17

ٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَٱذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَا دَاوُۥدَ ذَا ٱلْأَيْدِ‌ۖ إِنَّهُۥٓ أَوَّابٌ ﴿١٧﴾

إِنَّهُۥٓ

Indeed, he (was)

أَوَّابٌ

awwābun

repeatedly turning

18

إِنَّا سَخَّرْنَا ٱلْجِبَالَ مَعَهُۥ يُسَبِّحْنَ بِٱلْعَشِىِّ وَٱلْإِشْرَاقِ ﴿١٨﴾

Indeed, We

سَخَّرْنَا

sakharnā

subjected

ٱلْجِبَالَ

the mountains

مَعَهُۥ

يُسَبِّحْنَ

bil-ʿashiyi

in the evening

وَٱلْإِشْرَاقِ

and [the] sunrise

19

وَٱلطَّيْرَ مَحْشُورَةً‌ۖ كُلٌّ لَّهُۥٓ أَوَّابٌ ﴿١٩﴾

وَٱلطَّيْرَ

wal-ṭayra

And the birds

مَحْشُورَةًۭ ۖ

maḥshūratan

assembled

كُلٌّۭ

لَّهُۥٓ

أَوَّابٌۭ

repeatedly turning

20

وَشَدَدْنَا مُلْكَهُۥ وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ ٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَفَصْلَ ٱلْخِطَابِ ﴿٢٠﴾

وَشَدَدْنَا

washadadnā

And We strengthened

مُلْكَهُۥ

mul'kahu

his kingdom

وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ

waātaynāhu

and We gave him

ٱلْحِكْمَةَ

[the] wisdom

وَفَصْلَ

wafaṣla

and decisive

ٱلْخِطَابِ

l-khiṭābi

speech

21

۞ وَهَلْ أَتَـٰكَ نَبَؤُاْ ٱلْخَصْمِ إِذْ تَسَوَّرُواْ ٱلْمِحْرَابَ ﴿٢١﴾

And has (there)

أَتَىٰكَ

come to you

نَبَؤُا۟

ٱلْخَصْمِ

إِذْ

they climbed over the wall

ٱلْمِحْرَابَ

(of) the chamber

22

إِذْ دَخَلُواْ عَلَىٰ دَاوُۥدَ فَفَزِعَ مِنْهُمْ‌ۖ قَالُواْ لَا تَخَفْ‌ۖ خَصْمَانِ بَغَىٰ بَعْضُنَا عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ فَٱحْكُم بَيْنَنَا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَا تُشْطِطْ وَٱهْدِنَآ إِلَىٰ سَوَآءِ ٱلصِّرَٲطِ ﴿٢٢﴾

(We are) two litigants

بَغَىٰ

baghā

has wronged

بَعْضُنَا

baʿḍunā

one of us

عَلَىٰ

ʿalā

to

بَعْضٍۢ

baʿḍin

another

فَٱحْكُم

fa-uḥ'kum

so judge

بَيْنَنَا

baynanā

between us

بِٱلْحَقِّ

bil-ḥaqi

in truth

وَلَا

walā

and (do) not

تُشْطِطْ

tush'ṭiṭ

be unjust

وَٱهْدِنَآ

wa-ih'dinā

and guide us

إِلَىٰ

ilā

to

سَوَآءِ

sawāi

an even

ٱلصِّرَٰطِ

l-ṣirāṭi

[the] path

23

إِنَّ هَـٰذَآ أَخِى لَهُۥ تِسْعٌ وَتِسْعُونَ نَعْجَةً وَلِىَ نَعْجَةٌ وَٲحِدَةٌ فَقَالَ أَكْفِلْنِيهَا وَعَزَّنِى فِى ٱلْخِطَابِ ﴿٢٣﴾

أَكْفِلْنِيهَا

Entrust her to me

وَعَزَّنِى

waʿazzanī

and he overpowered me

فِى

ٱلْخِطَابِ

l-khiṭābi

[the] speech

24

قَالَ لَقَدْ ظَلَمَكَ بِسُؤَالِ نَعْجَتِكَ إِلَىٰ نِعَاجِهِۦ‌ۖ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنَ ٱلْخُلَطَآءِ لَيَبْغِى بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَقَلِيلٌ مَّا هُمْ‌ۗ وَظَنَّ دَاوُۥدُ أَنَّمَا فَتَنَّـٰهُ فَٱسْتَغْفَرَ رَبَّهُۥ وَخَرَّ رَاكِعًا وَأَنَابَ ۩ ﴿٢٤﴾

Certainly

ظَلَمَكَ

he has wronged you

بِسُؤَالِ

نَعْجَتِكَ

نِعَاجِهِۦ ۖ

his ewes

وَإِنَّ

And indeed

كَثِيرًۭا

مِّنَ

mina

ٱلْخُلَطَآءِ

l-khulaṭāi

the partners

لَيَبْغِى

layabghī

certainly oppress

بَعْضُهُمْ

baʿḍuhum

some of them

عَلَىٰ

ʿalā

[on]

بَعْضٍ

baʿḍin

another

إِلَّا

illā

except

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

those who

ءَامَنُوا۟

āmanū

believe

وَعَمِلُوا۟

waʿamilū

and do

ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ

l-ṣāliḥāti

righteous deeds

وَقَلِيلٌۭ

waqalīlun

and few

مَّا

(are) they

هُمْ ۗ

hum

(are) they

وَظَنَّ

waẓanna

And became certain

دَاوُۥدُ

dāwūdu

Dawood

أَنَّمَا

annamā

that

فَتَنَّـٰهُ

fatannāhu

We (had) tried him

فَٱسْتَغْفَرَ

fa-is'taghfara

and he asked forgiveness

رَبَّهُۥ

rabbahu

(of) his Lord

وَخَرَّ

wakharra

and fell down

رَاكِعًۭا

rākiʿan

bowing

وَأَنَابَ ۩

wa-anāba

and turned in repentance

25

فَغَفَرْنَا لَهُۥ ذَٲلِكَ‌ۖ وَإِنَّ لَهُۥ عِندَنَا لَزُلْفَىٰ وَحُسْنَ مَــَٔابٍ ﴿٢٥﴾

faghafarnā

So We forgave

for him

ذَٰلِكَ ۖ

dhālika

وَإِنَّ

wa-inna

And indeed

لَهُۥ

لَزُلْفَىٰ

lazul'fā

surely is a near access

وَحُسْنَ

waḥus'na

and a good

مَـَٔابٍۢ

maābin

place of return
