Ali 'Imran

وَمَا

wamā

And not

جَعَلَهُ

jaʿalahu

made it

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

إِلَّا

illā

except

بُشْرَىٰ

bush'rā

(as) good news

لَكُمْ

lakum

for you

وَلِتَطْمَئِنَّ

walitaṭma-inna

and to reassure

قُلُوبُكُم

qulūbukum

your hearts

بِهِۦ ۗ

bihi

with it

وَمَا

wamā

And (there is) no

ٱلنَّصْرُ

l-naṣru

[the] victory

إِلَّا

illā

except

مِنْ

min

from

عِندِ

ʿindi

[near]

ٱللَّهِ

l-lahi

Allah

ٱلْعَزِيزِ

l-ʿazīzi

the All-Mighty

ٱلْحَكِيمِ

l-ḥakīmi

the All-Wise

لِيَقْطَعَ

liyaqṭaʿa

That He may cut off

طَرَفًۭا

ṭarafan

a part

مِّنَ

mina

of

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

those who

كَفَرُوٓا۟

kafarū

disbelieved

أَوْ

aw

or

يَكْبِتَهُمْ

yakbitahum

suppress them

فَيَنقَلِبُوا۟

fayanqalibū

so (that) they turn back

خَآئِبِينَ

khāibīna

disappointed

لَيْسَ

laysa

Not

لَكَ

laka

for you

مِنَ

mina

of

ٱلْأَمْرِ

l-amri

the decision

شَىْءٌ

shayon

(of) anything

أَوْ

aw

whether

يَتُوبَ

yatūba

He turns

عَلَيْهِمْ

ʿalayhim

to them

أَوْ

aw

or

يُعَذِّبَهُمْ

yuʿadhibahum

punishes them

فَإِنَّهُمْ

fa-innahum

for indeed, they

ظَـٰلِمُونَ

ẓālimūna

(are) wrongdoers

وَلِلَّهِ

walillahi

And to Allah (belongs)

مَا

mā

what

فِى

fī

(is) in

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

l-samāwāti

the heavens

وَمَا

wamā

and what

فِى

fī

(is) in

ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ

l-arḍi

the earth

يَغْفِرُ

yaghfiru

He forgives

لِمَن

liman

[for] whom

يَشَآءُ

yashāu

He wills

وَيُعَذِّبُ

wayuʿadhibu

and punishes

مَن

man

whom

يَشَآءُ ۚ

yashāu

He wills

وَٱللَّهُ

wal-lahu

And Allah

غَفُورٌۭ

ghafūrun

(is) Oft-Forgiving

رَّحِيمٌۭ

raḥīmun

Most Merciful

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا

yāayyuhā

O you

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

who

ءَامَنُوا۟

āmanū

believe

لَا

lā

(Do) not

تَأْكُلُوا۟

takulū

eat

ٱلرِّبَوٰٓا۟

l-riba

the usury

أَضْعَـٰفًۭا

aḍʿāfan

doubled

مُّضَـٰعَفَةًۭ ۖ

muḍāʿafatan

multiplied

وَٱتَّقُوا۟

wa-ittaqū

And fear

ٱللَّهَ

l-laha

Allah

لَعَلَّكُمْ

laʿallakum

so that you may

تُفْلِحُونَ

tuf'liḥūna

(be) successful

وَٱتَّقُوا۟

wa-ittaqū

And fear

ٱلنَّارَ

l-nāra

the Fire

ٱلَّتِىٓ

allatī

which

أُعِدَّتْ

uʿiddat

is prepared

لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ

lil'kāfirīna

for the disbelievers

وَأَطِيعُوا۟

wa-aṭīʿū

And obey

ٱللَّهَ

l-laha

Allah

وَٱلرَّسُولَ

wal-rasūla

and the Messenger

لَعَلَّكُمْ

laʿallakum

so that you may

تُرْحَمُونَ

tur'ḥamūna

receive mercy

۞ وَسَارِعُوٓا۟

wasāriʿū

And hasten

إِلَىٰ

ilā

to

مَغْفِرَةٍۢ

maghfiratin

forgiveness

مِّن

min

from

رَّبِّكُمْ

rabbikum

your Lord

وَجَنَّةٍ

wajannatin

and a Garden

عَرْضُهَا

ʿarḍuhā

its width

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتُ

l-samāwātu

(is like that of) the heavens

وَٱلْأَرْضُ

wal-arḍu

and the earth

أُعِدَّتْ

uʿiddat

prepared

لِلْمُتَّقِينَ

lil'muttaqīna

for the pious

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

Those who

يُنفِقُونَ

yunfiqūna

spend

فِى

fī

in

ٱلسَّرَّآءِ

l-sarāi

[the] ease

وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ

wal-ḍarāi

and (in) the hardship

وَٱلْكَـٰظِمِينَ

wal-kāẓimīna

and those who restrain

ٱلْغَيْظَ

l-ghayẓa

the anger

وَٱلْعَافِينَ

wal-ʿāfīna

and those who pardon

عَنِ

ʿani

[from]

ٱلنَّاسِ ۗ

l-nāsi

the people

وَٱللَّهُ

wal-lahu

and Allah

يُحِبُّ

yuḥibbu

loves

ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ

l-muḥ'sinīna

the good-doers

وَٱلَّذِينَ

wa-alladhīna

And those

إِذَا

idhā

when

فَعَلُوا۟

faʿalū

they did

فَـٰحِشَةً

fāḥishatan

immorality

أَوْ

aw

or

ظَلَمُوٓا۟

ẓalamū

wronged

أَنفُسَهُمْ

anfusahum

themselves

ذَكَرُوا۟

dhakarū

they remember

ٱللَّهَ

l-laha

Allah

فَٱسْتَغْفَرُوا۟

fa-is'taghfarū

then ask forgiveness

لِذُنُوبِهِمْ

lidhunūbihim

for their sins

وَمَن

waman

and who

يَغْفِرُ

yaghfiru

(can) forgive

ٱلذُّنُوبَ

l-dhunūba

the sins

إِلَّا

illā

except

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

وَلَمْ

walam

And not

يُصِرُّوا۟

yuṣirrū

they persist

عَلَىٰ

ʿalā

on

مَا

mā

what

فَعَلُوا۟

faʿalū

they did

وَهُمْ

wahum

while they

يَعْلَمُونَ

yaʿlamūna

know

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

ulāika

Those

جَزَآؤُهُم

jazāuhum

their reward

مَّغْفِرَةٌۭ

maghfiratun

(is) forgiveness

مِّن

min

from

رَّبِّهِمْ

rabbihim

their Lord

وَجَنَّـٰتٌۭ

wajannātun

and Gardens

تَجْرِى

tajrī

flows

مِن

min

from

تَحْتِهَا

taḥtihā

underneath it

ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ

l-anhāru

the rivers

خَـٰلِدِينَ

khālidīna

abiding forever

فِيهَا ۚ

fīhā

in it

وَنِعْمَ

waniʿ'ma

And an excellent

أَجْرُ

ajru

reward

ٱلْعَـٰمِلِينَ

l-ʿāmilīna

(for) the (righteous) workers

قَدْ

qad

Verily

خَلَتْ

khalat

passed

مِن

min

from

قَبْلِكُمْ

qablikum

before you

سُنَنٌۭ

sunanun

situations

فَسِيرُوا۟

fasīrū

then travel

فِى

fī

in

ٱلْأَرْضِ

l-arḍi

the earth

فَٱنظُرُوا۟

fa-unẓurū

and see

كَيْفَ

kayfa

how

كَانَ

kāna

was

عَـٰقِبَةُ

ʿāqibatu

(the) end

ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

l-mukadhibīna

(of) the deniers

هَـٰذَا

hādhā

This

بَيَانٌۭ

bayānun

(is) a declaration

لِّلنَّاسِ

lilnnāsi

for the people

وَهُدًۭى

wahudan

and guidance

وَمَوْعِظَةٌۭ

wamawʿiẓatun

and admonition

لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ

lil'muttaqīna

for the God-fearing

وَلَا

walā

And (do) not

تَهِنُوا۟

tahinū

weaken

وَلَا

walā

and (do) not

تَحْزَنُوا۟

taḥzanū

grieve

وَأَنتُمُ

wa-antumu

and you (will be)

ٱلْأَعْلَوْنَ

l-aʿlawna

[the] superior

إِن

in

if

كُنتُم

kuntum

you are

مُّؤْمِنِينَ

mu'minīna

believers

إِن

in

If

يَمْسَسْكُمْ

yamsaskum

touched you

قَرْحٌۭ

qarḥun

a wound

فَقَدْ

faqad

so certainly

مَسَّ

massa

(has) touched

ٱلْقَوْمَ

l-qawma

the people

قَرْحٌۭ

qarḥun

wound

مِّثْلُهُۥ ۚ

mith'luhu

like it

وَتِلْكَ

watil'ka

And this

ٱلْأَيَّامُ

l-ayāmu

[the] days

نُدَاوِلُهَا

nudāwiluhā

We alternate them

بَيْنَ

bayna

among

ٱلنَّاسِ

l-nāsi

the people

وَلِيَعْلَمَ

waliyaʿlama

[and] so that makes evident

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

those who

ءَامَنُوا۟

āmanū

believe[d]

وَيَتَّخِذَ

wayattakhidha

and take

مِنكُمْ

minkum

from you

شُهَدَآءَ ۗ

shuhadāa

martyrs

وَٱللَّهُ

wal-lahu

And Allah

لَا

lā

(does) not

يُحِبُّ

yuḥibbu

love

ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

l-ẓālimīna

the wrongdoers

وَلِيُمَحِّصَ

waliyumaḥḥiṣa

And so that may purify

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

those who

ءَامَنُوا۟

āmanū

believe

وَيَمْحَقَ

wayamḥaqa

and destroy

ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ

l-kāfirīna

the disbelievers

أَمْ

am

Or

حَسِبْتُمْ

ḥasib'tum

do you think

أَن

an

that

تَدْخُلُوا۟

tadkhulū

you will enter

ٱلْجَنَّةَ

l-janata

Paradise

وَلَمَّا

walammā

while has not yet

يَعْلَمِ

yaʿlami

made evident

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

those who

جَـٰهَدُوا۟

jāhadū

strove hard

مِنكُمْ

minkum

among you

وَيَعْلَمَ

wayaʿlama

and made evident

ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ

l-ṣābirīna

the steadfast

وَلَقَدْ

walaqad

And certainly

كُنتُمْ

kuntum

you used to

تَمَنَّوْنَ

tamannawna

wish

ٱلْمَوْتَ

l-mawta

(for) death

مِن

min

from

قَبْلِ

qabli

before

أَن

an

[that]

تَلْقَوْهُ

talqawhu

you met it

فَقَدْ

faqad

then indeed

رَأَيْتُمُوهُ

ra-aytumūhu

you have seen it

وَأَنتُمْ

wa-antum

while you (were)

تَنظُرُونَ

tanẓurūna

looking on

وَمَا

wamā

And not

مُحَمَّدٌ

muḥammadun

(is) Muhammad

إِلَّا

illā

except

رَسُولٌۭ

rasūlun

a Messenger

قَدْ

qad

certainly

خَلَتْ

khalat

passed away

مِن

min

from

قَبْلِهِ

qablihi

before him

ٱلرُّسُلُ ۚ

l-rusulu

[the] (other) Messengers

أَفَإِي۟ن

afa-in

So if

مَّاتَ

māta

he died

أَوْ

aw

or

قُتِلَ

qutila

is slain

ٱنقَلَبْتُمْ

inqalabtum

will you turn back

عَلَىٰٓ

ʿalā

on

أَعْقَـٰبِكُمْ ۚ

aʿqābikum

your heels

وَمَن

waman

And whoever

يَنقَلِبْ

yanqalib

turns back

عَلَىٰ

ʿalā

on

عَقِبَيْهِ

ʿaqibayhi

his heels

فَلَن

falan

then never

يَضُرَّ

yaḍurra

will he harm

ٱللَّهَ

l-laha

Allah

شَيْـًۭٔا ۗ

shayan

(in) anything

وَسَيَجْزِى

wasayajzī

And will reward

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

ٱلشَّـٰكِرِينَ

l-shākirīna

the grateful ones

وَمَا

wamā

And not

كَانَ

kāna

is

لِنَفْسٍ

linafsin

for a soul

أَن

an

that

تَمُوتَ

tamūta

he dies

إِلَّا

illā

except

بِإِذْنِ

bi-idh'ni

by (the) permission

ٱللَّهِ

l-lahi

(of) Allah

كِتَـٰبًۭا

kitāban

(at a) decree

مُّؤَجَّلًۭا ۗ

mu-ajjalan

determined

وَمَن

waman

And whoever

يُرِدْ

yurid

desires

ثَوَابَ

thawāba

reward

ٱلدُّنْيَا

l-dun'yā

(of) the world

نُؤْتِهِۦ

nu'tihi

We will give him

مِنْهَا

min'hā

thereof

وَمَن

waman

and whoever

يُرِدْ

yurid

desires

ثَوَابَ

thawāba

reward

ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ

l-ākhirati

(of) the Hereafter

نُؤْتِهِۦ

nu'tihi

We will give him

مِنْهَا ۚ

min'hā

thereof

وَسَنَجْزِى

wasanajzī

And We will reward

ٱلشَّـٰكِرِينَ

l-shākirīna

the grateful ones

وَكَأَيِّن

waka-ayyin

And how many

مِّن

min

from

نَّبِىٍّۢ

nabiyyin

a Prophet

قَـٰتَلَ

qātala

fought

مَعَهُۥ

maʿahu

with him

رِبِّيُّونَ

ribbiyyūna

(were) religious scholars

كَثِيرٌۭ

kathīrun

many

فَمَا

famā

But not

وَهَنُوا۟

wahanū

they lost heart

لِمَآ

limā

for what

أَصَابَهُمْ

aṣābahum

befell them

فِى

fī

in

سَبِيلِ

sabīli

(the) way

ٱللَّهِ

l-lahi

(of) Allah

وَمَا

wamā

and not

ضَعُفُوا۟

ḍaʿufū

they weakened

وَمَا

wamā

and not

ٱسْتَكَانُوا۟ ۗ

is'takānū

they gave in

وَٱللَّهُ

wal-lahu

And Allah

يُحِبُّ

yuḥibbu

loves

ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ

l-ṣābirīna

the patient ones

وَمَا

wamā

And not

كَانَ

kāna

were

قَوْلَهُمْ

qawlahum

their words

إِلَّآ

illā

except

أَن

an

that

قَالُوا۟

qālū

they said

رَبَّنَا

rabbanā

Our Lord

ٱغْفِرْ

igh'fir

forgive

لَنَا

lanā

for us

ذُنُوبَنَا

dhunūbanā

our sins

وَإِسْرَافَنَا

wa-is'rāfanā

and our excesses

فِىٓ

fī

in

أَمْرِنَا

amrinā

our affairs

وَثَبِّتْ

wathabbit

and make firm

أَقْدَامَنَا

aqdāmanā

our feet

وَٱنصُرْنَا

wa-unṣur'nā

and give us victory

عَلَى

ʿalā

over

ٱلْقَوْمِ

l-qawmi

[the people]

ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ

l-kāfirīna

the disbelievers

فَـَٔاتَىٰهُمُ

faātāhumu

So gave them

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

ثَوَابَ

thawāba

reward

ٱلدُّنْيَا

l-dun'yā

(in) the world

وَحُسْنَ

waḥus'na

and good

ثَوَابِ

thawābi

reward

ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ ۗ

l-ākhirati

(in) the Hereafter

وَٱللَّهُ

wal-lahu

And Allah

يُحِبُّ

yuḥibbu

loves

ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ

l-muḥ'sinīna

the good-doers

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا

yāayyuhā

O you

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

who

ءَامَنُوٓا۟

āmanū

believe

إِن

in

If

تُطِيعُوا۟

tuṭīʿū

you obey

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

those who

كَفَرُوا۟

kafarū

disbelieve

يَرُدُّوكُمْ

yaruddūkum

they will turn you back

عَلَىٰٓ

ʿalā

on

أَعْقَـٰبِكُمْ

aʿqābikum

your heels

فَتَنقَلِبُوا۟

fatanqalibū

then you will turn back

خَـٰسِرِينَ

khāsirīna

(as) losers

بَلِ

bali

Nay

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

مَوْلَىٰكُمْ ۖ

mawlākum

(is) your Protector

وَهُوَ

wahuwa

and He

خَيْرُ

khayru

(is the) best

ٱلنَّـٰصِرِينَ

l-nāṣirīna

(of) the Helpers
