101

فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَلَآ أَنسَابَ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَلَا يَتَسَآءَلُونَ ﴿١٠١﴾

Word-by-word

فَإِذَا

fa-idhā

So when

نُفِخَ

nufikha

is blown

فِى

in

ٱلصُّورِ

l-ṣūri

the trumpet

فَلَآ

falā

then not

أَنسَابَ

ansāba

(there) will be relationship

بَيْنَهُمْ

baynahum

among them

يَوْمَئِذٍۢ

yawma-idhin

that Day

وَلَا

walā

and not

يَتَسَآءَلُونَ

yatasāalūna

will they ask each other

102

فَمَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَٲزِينُهُۥ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ ﴿١٠٢﴾

Word-by-word

فَمَن

faman

Then (the one) whose

ثَقُلَتْ

thaqulat

(are) heavy

مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ

mawāzīnuhu

his scales

فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

fa-ulāika

then those

هُمُ

humu

they

ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ

l-muf'liḥūna

(are) the successful

103

وَمَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٲزِينُهُۥ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُمْ فِى جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدُونَ ﴿١٠٣﴾

Word-by-word

وَمَنْ

waman

But (the one) whose

خَفَّتْ

khaffat

(are) light

مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ

mawāzīnuhu

his scales

فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

fa-ulāika

then those

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

they [who]

خَسِرُوٓا۟

khasirū

have lost

أَنفُسَهُمْ

anfusahum

their souls

فِى

in

جَهَنَّمَ

jahannama

Hell

خَـٰلِدُونَ

khālidūna

they (will) abide forever

104

تَلْفَحُ وُجُوهَهُمُ ٱلنَّارُ وَهُمْ فِيهَا كَـٰلِحُونَ ﴿١٠٤﴾

Word-by-word

تَلْفَحُ

talfaḥu

Will burn

وُجُوهَهُمُ

wujūhahumu

their faces

ٱلنَّارُ

l-nāru

the Fire

وَهُمْ

wahum

and they

فِيهَا

fīhā

in it

كَـٰلِحُونَ

kāliḥūna

(will) grin with displaced lips

105

أَلَمْ تَكُنْ ءَايَـٰتِى تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ فَكُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ ﴿١٠٥﴾

deny them

106

قَالُواْ رَبَّنَا غَلَبَتْ عَلَيْنَا شِقْوَتُنَا وَكُنَّا قَوْمًا ضَآلِّينَ ﴿١٠٦﴾

Word-by-word

قَالُوا۟

qālū

They (will) say

رَبَّنَا

rabbanā

Our Lord

غَلَبَتْ

ghalabat

Overcame

عَلَيْنَا

ʿalaynā

[on] us

شِقْوَتُنَا

shiq'watunā

our wretchedness

وَكُنَّا

wakunnā

and we were

قَوْمًۭا

qawman

a people

ضَآلِّينَ

ḍāllīna

astray

107

رَبَّنَآ أَخْرِجْنَا مِنْهَا فَإِنْ عُدْنَا فَإِنَّا ظَـٰلِمُونَ ﴿١٠٧﴾

Word-by-word

رَبَّنَآ

rabbanā

Our Lord

أَخْرِجْنَا

akhrij'nā

Bring us out

مِنْهَا

min'hā

from it

فَإِنْ

fa-in

then if

عُدْنَا

ʿud'nā

we return

فَإِنَّا

fa-innā

then indeed, we

ظَـٰلِمُونَ

ẓālimūna

(would be) wrongdoers

108

قَالَ ٱخْسَــُٔواْ فِيهَا وَلَا تُكَلِّمُونِ ﴿١٠٨﴾

Word-by-word

قَالَ

qāla

He (will) say

ٱخْسَـُٔوا۟

ikh'saū

Remain despised

فِيهَا

fīhā

in it

وَلَا

walā

and (do) not

تُكَلِّمُونِ

tukallimūni

speak to Me

109

إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فَرِيقٌ مِّنْ عِبَادِى يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَآ ءَامَنَّا فَٱغْفِرْ لَنَا وَٱرْحَمْنَا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٲحِمِينَ ﴿١٠٩﴾

إِنَّهُۥ

innahu

Indeed

كَانَ

kāna

(there) was

فَرِيقٌۭ

farīqun

a party

مِّنْ

min

of

عِبَادِى

ʿibādī

My slaves

يَقُولُونَ

yaqūlūna

(who) said

رَبَّنَآ

rabbanā

Our Lord

ءَامَنَّا

āmannā

We believe

فَٱغْفِرْ

fa-igh'fir

so forgive

لَنَا

lanā

us

وَٱرْحَمْنَا

wa-ir'ḥamnā

and have mercy on us

وَأَنتَ

wa-anta

and You

خَيْرُ

khayru

(are) best

ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ

l-rāḥimīna

(of) those who show mercy

110

فَٱتَّخَذْتُمُوهُمْ سِخْرِيًّا حَتَّىٰٓ أَنسَوْكُمْ ذِكْرِى وَكُنتُم مِّنْهُمْ تَضْحَكُونَ ﴿١١٠﴾

Word-by-word

فَٱتَّخَذْتُمُوهُمْ

fa-ittakhadhtumūhum

But you took them

سِخْرِيًّا

sikh'riyyan

(in) mockery

حَتَّىٰٓ

ḥattā

until

أَنسَوْكُمْ

ansawkum

they made you forget

ذِكْرِى

dhik'rī

My remembrance

وَكُنتُم

wakuntum

and you used (to)

مِّنْهُمْ

min'hum

at them

تَضْحَكُونَ

taḍḥakūna

laugh

111

إِنِّى جَزَيْتُهُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ بِمَا صَبَرُوٓاْ أَنَّهُمْ هُمُ ٱلْفَآئِزُونَ ﴿١١١﴾

Word-by-word

إِنِّى

innī

Indeed, I

جَزَيْتُهُمُ

jazaytuhumu

have rewarded them

ٱلْيَوْمَ

this Day

بِمَا

bimā

صَبَرُوٓا۟

they were patient

أَنَّهُمْ

indeed, they

ٱلْفَآئِزُونَ

(are) the successful ones

112

قَـٰلَ كَمْ لَبِثْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ عَدَدَ سِنِينَ ﴿١١٢﴾

He will say

كَمْ

How long

لَبِثْتُمْ

labith'tum

did you remain

فِى

in

ٱلْأَرْضِ

l-arḍi

the earth

عَدَدَ

ʿadada

113

قَالُواْ لَبِثْنَا يَوْمًا أَوْ بَعْضَ يَوْمٍ فَسْــَٔلِ ٱلْعَآدِّينَ ﴿١١٣﴾

They will say

لَبِثْنَا

We remained

يَوْمًا

a day

أَوْ

بَعْضَ

يَوْمٍۢ

ٱلْعَآدِّينَ

114

قَـٰلَ إِن لَّبِثْتُمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلاً‌ۖ لَّوْ أَنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿١١٤﴾

He will say

لَّبِثْتُمْ

you stayed

إِلَّا

قَلِيلًۭا ۖ

لَّوْ

115

أَفَحَسِبْتُمْ أَنَّمَا خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ عَبَثًا وَأَنَّكُمْ إِلَيْنَا لَا تُرْجَعُونَ ﴿١١٥﴾

أَفَحَسِبْتُمْ

afaḥasib'tum

Then did you think

أَنَّمَا

annamā

that

خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ

khalaqnākum

We created you

عَبَثًۭا

ʿabathan

uselessly

وَأَنَّكُمْ

wa-annakum

and that you

إِلَيْنَا

ilaynā

to Us

لَا

not

تُرْجَعُونَ

tur'jaʿūna

will be returned

116

فَتَعَـٰلَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمَلِكُ ٱلْحَقُّ‌ۖ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْكَرِيمِ ﴿١١٦﴾

فَتَعَـٰلَى

fataʿālā

So exalted is

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

ٱلْمَلِكُ

l-maliku

the King

ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ

l-ḥaqu

the Truth

لَآ

(There is) no

إِلَـٰهَ

ilāha

god

إِلَّا

illā

except

هُوَ

huwa

Him

رَبُّ

rabbu

(the) Lord

ٱلْعَرْشِ

l-ʿarshi

(of) the Throne

ٱلْكَرِيمِ

l-karīmi

Honorable

117

وَمَن يَدْعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَ لَا بُرْهَـٰنَ لَهُۥ بِهِۦ فَإِنَّمَا حِسَابُهُۥ عِندَ رَبِّهِۦٓ‌ۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُفْلِحُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ ﴿١١٧﴾

وَمَن

And whoever

يَدْعُ

yadʿu

invokes

مَعَ

maʿa

with

ٱللَّهِ

l-lahi

Allah

إِلَـٰهًا

ilāhan

god

ءَاخَرَ

ākhara

لَا

بُرْهَـٰنَ

bur'hāna

proof

لَهُۥ

lahu

for him

بِهِۦ

bihi

in it

فَإِنَّمَا

fa-innamā

Then only

حِسَابُهُۥ

ḥisābuhu

his account

عِندَ

ʿinda

(is) with

رَبِّهِۦٓ ۚ

rabbihi

his Lord

إِنَّهُۥ

innahu

Indeed, [he]

لَا

not

يُفْلِحُ

yuf'liḥu

will succeed

ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ

l-kāfirūna

the disbelievers

118

وَقُل رَّبِّ ٱغْفِرْ وَٱرْحَمْ وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٲحِمِينَ ﴿١١٨﴾

وَقُل

And say

رَّبِّ

rabbi

My Lord

ٱغْفِرْ

igh'fir

Forgive

وَٱرْحَمْ

wa-ir'ḥam

and have mercy

وَأَنتَ

wa-anta

and You

خَيْرُ

(are the) Best

ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ

l-rāḥimīna

(of) those who show mercy
