المائدة
26

قَالَ فَإِنَّهَا مُحَرَّمَةٌ عَلَيْهِمْ‌ۛ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً‌ۛ يَتِيهُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ‌ۚ فَلَا تَأْسَ عَلَى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْفَـٰسِقِينَ ﴿٢٦﴾

كلمة بكلمة

قَالَ

qāla

(Allah) said

فَإِنَّهَا

fa-innahā

Then indeed it

مُحَرَّمَةٌ

muḥarramatun

(will be) forbidden

عَلَيْهِمْ ۛ

ʿalayhim

to them

أَرْبَعِينَ

arbaʿīna

(for) forty

سَنَةًۭ ۛ

sanatan

years

يَتِيهُونَ

yatīhūna

they will wander

فِى

in

ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ

l-arḍi

the earth

فَلَا

falā

So (do) not

تَأْسَ

tasa

grieve

عَلَى

ʿalā

over

ٱلْقَوْمِ

l-qawmi

the people

ٱلْفَـٰسِقِينَ

l-fāsiqīna

the defiantly disobedient

27

۞ وَٱتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ ٱبْنَىْ ءَادَمَ بِٱلْحَقِّ إِذْ قَرَّبَا قُرْبَانًا فَتُقُبِّلَ مِنْ أَحَدِهِمَا وَلَمْ يُتَقَبَّلْ مِنَ ٱلْأَخَرِ قَالَ لَأَقْتُلَنَّكَ‌ۖ قَالَ إِنَّمَا يَتَقَبَّلُ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ ﴿٢٧﴾

كلمة بكلمة

۞ وَٱتْلُ

wa-ut'lu

And recite

عَلَيْهِمْ

ʿalayhim

to them

نَبَأَ

naba-a

the story

ٱبْنَىْ

ib'nay

(of) two sons

ءَادَمَ

ādama

(of) Adam

بِٱلْحَقِّ

bil-ḥaqi

in truth

إِذْ

idh

when

قَرَّبَا

qarrabā

both offered

قُرْبَانًۭا

qur'bānan

a sacrifice

فَتُقُبِّلَ

fatuqubbila

and it was accepted

مِنْ

min

from

أَحَدِهِمَا

aḥadihimā

one of them

وَلَمْ

walam

and not

يُتَقَبَّلْ

yutaqabbal

was accepted

مِنَ

mina

from

ٱلْـَٔاخَرِ

l-ākhari

the other

قَالَ

qāla

Said (the latter)

لَأَقْتُلَنَّكَ ۖ

la-aqtulannaka

Surely I will kill you

قَالَ

qāla

Said (the former)

إِنَّمَا

innamā

Only

يَتَقَبَّلُ

yataqabbalu

accepts

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

(does) Allah

مِنَ

mina

from

ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ

l-mutaqīna

the God fearing

28

لَئِنۢ بَسَطتَ إِلَىَّ يَدَكَ لِتَقْتُلَنِى مَآ أَنَا۟ بِبَاسِطٍ يَدِىَ إِلَيْكَ لِأَقْتُلَكَ‌ۖ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ ٱللَّهَ رَبَّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ﴿٢٨﴾

كلمة بكلمة

لَئِنۢ

la-in

If

بَسَطتَ

basaṭta

you stretch

إِلَىَّ

ilayya

towards me

يَدَكَ

yadaka

your hand

لِتَقْتُلَنِى

litaqtulanī

to kill me

مَآ

not

أَنَا۠

anā

will I

بِبَاسِطٍۢ

bibāsiṭin

stretch

يَدِىَ

yadiya

my hand

إِلَيْكَ

ilayka

towards you

لِأَقْتُلَكَ ۖ

li-aqtulaka

to kill you

إِنِّىٓ

innī

indeed I

أَخَافُ

akhāfu

fear

ٱللَّهَ

l-laha

Allah

رَبَّ

rabba

(the) Lord

ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

l-ʿālamīna

(of) the worlds

29

إِنِّىٓ أُرِيدُ أَن تَبُوٓأَ بِإِثْمِى وَإِثْمِكَ فَتَكُونَ مِنْ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلنَّارِ‌ۚ وَذَٲلِكَ جَزَٲٓؤُاْ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ ﴿٢٩﴾

كلمة بكلمة

إِنِّىٓ

innī

Indeed, I

أُرِيدُ

urīdu

wish

أَن

an

that

تَبُوٓأَ

tabūa

you be laden

بِإِثْمِى

bi-ith'mī

with my sin

وَإِثْمِكَ

wa-ith'mika

and your sin

فَتَكُونَ

fatakūna

so you will be

مِنْ

min

among

أَصْحَـٰبِ

aṣḥābi

(the) companions

ٱلنَّارِ ۚ

l-nāri

(of) the Fire

وَذَٰلِكَ

wadhālika

and that

جَزَٰٓؤُا۟

jazāu

(is the) recompense

ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

l-ẓālimīna

(of) the wrong-doers

30

فَطَوَّعَتْ لَهُۥ نَفْسُهُۥ قَتْلَ أَخِيهِ فَقَتَلَهُۥ فَأَصْبَحَ مِنَ ٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَ ﴿٣٠﴾

كلمة بكلمة

فَطَوَّعَتْ

faṭawwaʿat

Then prompted

لَهُۥ

lahu

to him

نَفْسُهُۥ

nafsuhu

his soul

قَتْلَ

qatla

(to) kill

أَخِيهِ

akhīhi

his brother

فَقَتَلَهُۥ

faqatalahu

so he killed him

فَأَصْبَحَ

fa-aṣbaḥa

and became

مِنَ

mina

of

ٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَ

l-khāsirīna

the losers

31

فَبَعَثَ ٱللَّهُ غُرَابًا يَبْحَثُ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لِيُرِيَهُۥ كَيْفَ يُوَٲرِى سَوْءَةَ أَخِيهِ‌ۚ قَالَ يَـٰوَيْلَتَىٰٓ أَعَجَزْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِثْلَ هَـٰذَا ٱلْغُرَابِ فَأُوَٲرِىَ سَوْءَةَ أَخِى‌ۖ فَأَصْبَحَ مِنَ ٱلنَّـٰدِمِينَ ﴿٣١﴾

كلمة بكلمة

فَبَعَثَ

fabaʿatha

Then (was) sent

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

(by) Allah

غُرَابًۭا

ghurāban

a crow

يَبْحَثُ

yabḥathu

it (was) scratching

فِى

in

ٱلْأَرْضِ

l-arḍi

the earth

لِيُرِيَهُۥ

liyuriyahu

to show him

كَيْفَ

kayfa

how

يُوَٰرِى

yuwārī

to hide

سَوْءَةَ

sawata

(the) dead body

أَخِيهِ ۚ

akhīhi

(of) his brother

قَالَ

qāla

He said

يَـٰوَيْلَتَىٰٓ

yāwaylatā

Woe to me

أَعَجَزْتُ

aʿajaztu

Am I unable

أَنْ

an

that

أَكُونَ

akūna

I can be

مِثْلَ

mith'la

like

هَـٰذَا

hādhā

this

ٱلْغُرَابِ

l-ghurābi

[the] crow

فَأُوَٰرِىَ

fa-uwāriya

and hide

سَوْءَةَ

sawata

(the) dead body

أَخِى ۖ

akhī

(of) my brother

فَأَصْبَحَ

fa-aṣbaḥa

Then he became

مِنَ

mina

of

ٱلنَّـٰدِمِينَ

l-nādimīna

the regretful

32

مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَٲلِكَ كَتَبْنَا عَلَىٰ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٲٓءِيلَ أَنَّهُۥ مَن قَتَلَ نَفْسَۢا بِغَيْرِ نَفْسٍ أَوْ فَسَادٍ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَكَأَنَّمَا قَتَلَ ٱلنَّاسَ جَمِيعًا وَمَنْ أَحْيَاهَا فَكَأَنَّمَآ أَحْيَا ٱلنَّاسَ جَمِيعًا‌ۚ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُنَا بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ ثُمَّ إِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُم بَعْدَ ذَٲلِكَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لَمُسْرِفُونَ ﴿٣٢﴾

مِنْ

min

From

أَجْلِ

ajli

time

ذَٰلِكَ

dhālika

that

كَتَبْنَا

katabnā

We ordained

عَلَىٰ

ʿalā

on

بَنِىٓ

banī

(the) Children

إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ

is'rāīla

(of) Israel

أَنَّهُۥ

annahu

that he

مَن

man

who

قَتَلَ

qatala

kills

نَفْسًۢا

nafsan

a soul

بِغَيْرِ

bighayri

other than

نَفْسٍ

nafsin

(for) a soul

أَوْ

aw

or

فَسَادٍۢ

fasādin

(for) spreading corruption

فِى

in

ٱلْأَرْضِ

l-arḍi

the earth

فَكَأَنَّمَا

faka-annamā

then (it) is as if

قَتَلَ

qatala

he has killed

ٱلنَّاسَ

l-nāsa

mankind

جَمِيعًۭا

jamīʿan

all

وَمَنْ

waman

and whoever

أَحْيَاهَا

aḥyāhā

saves it

فَكَأَنَّمَآ

faka-annamā

then (it) is as if

أَحْيَا

aḥyā

he has saved

ٱلنَّاسَ

l-nāsa

mankind

جَمِيعًۭا ۚ

jamīʿan

all

وَلَقَدْ

walaqad

And surely

جَآءَتْهُمْ

jāathum

came to them

رُسُلُنَا

rusulunā

Our Messengers

بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ

bil-bayināti

with clear Signs

ثُمَّ

thumma

yet

إِنَّ

inna

indeed

كَثِيرًۭا

kathīran

many

مِّنْهُم

min'hum

of them

بَعْدَ

baʿda

after

ذَٰلِكَ

dhālika

that

فِى

in

ٱلْأَرْضِ

l-arḍi

the earth

لَمُسْرِفُونَ

lamus'rifūna

(are) surely those who commit excesses

33

إِنَّمَا جَزَٲٓؤُاْ ٱلَّذِينَ يُحَارِبُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَيَسْعَوْنَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَسَادًا أَن يُقَتَّلُوٓاْ أَوْ يُصَلَّبُوٓاْ أَوْ تُقَطَّعَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَأَرْجُلُهُم مِّنْ خِلَـٰفٍ أَوْ يُنفَوْاْ مِنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ‌ۚ ذَٲلِكَ لَهُمْ خِزْىٌ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا‌ۖ وَلَهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ ﴿٣٣﴾

كلمة بكلمة

إِنَّمَا

innamā

Only

جَزَٰٓؤُا۟

jazāu

(the) recompense

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

(for) those who

يُحَارِبُونَ

yuḥāribūna

wage war

ٱللَّهَ

l-laha

(against) Allah

وَرَسُولَهُۥ

warasūlahu

and His Messenger

وَيَسْعَوْنَ

wayasʿawna

and strive

فِى

in

ٱلْأَرْضِ

l-arḍi

the earth

فَسَادًا

fasādan

spreading corruption

أَن

an

(is) that

يُقَتَّلُوٓا۟

yuqattalū

they be killed

أَوْ

aw

or

يُصَلَّبُوٓا۟

yuṣallabū

they be crucified

أَوْ

aw

or

تُقَطَّعَ

tuqaṭṭaʿa

be cut off

أَيْدِيهِمْ

aydīhim

their hands

وَأَرْجُلُهُم

wa-arjuluhum

and their feet

مِّنْ

min

of

خِلَـٰفٍ

khilāfin

opposite sides

أَوْ

aw

or

يُنفَوْا۟

yunfaw

they be exiled

مِنَ

mina

from

ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ

l-arḍi

the land

ذَٰلِكَ

dhālika

That

لَهُمْ

lahum

(is) for them

خِزْىٌۭ

khiz'yun

disgrace

فِى

in

ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ

l-dun'yā

the world

وَلَهُمْ

walahum

and for them

فِى

in

ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ

l-ākhirati

the Hereafter

عَذَابٌ

ʿadhābun

(is) a punishment

عَظِيمٌ

ʿaẓīmun

great

34

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ تَابُواْ مِن قَبْلِ أَن تَقْدِرُواْ عَلَيْهِمْ‌ۖ فَٱعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ ﴿٣٤﴾

كلمة بكلمة

إِلَّا

illā

Except

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

those who

تَابُوا۟

tābū

repent

مِن

min

from

قَبْلِ

qabli

before

أَن

an

that

تَقْدِرُوا۟

taqdirū

you overpower

عَلَيْهِمْ ۖ

ʿalayhim

[over] them

فَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟

fa-iʿ'lamū

then know

أَنَّ

anna

that

ٱللَّهَ

l-laha

Allah

غَفُورٌۭ

ghafūrun

(is) Oft-Forgiving

رَّحِيمٌۭ

raḥīmun

Most Merciful

35

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱبْتَغُوٓاْ إِلَيْهِ ٱلْوَسِيلَةَ وَجَـٰهِدُواْ فِى سَبِيلِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ ﴿٣٥﴾

كلمة بكلمة

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا

yāayyuhā

O you

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

who

ءَامَنُوا۟

āmanū

believe

ٱتَّقُوا۟

ittaqū

Fear

ٱللَّهَ

l-laha

Allah

وَٱبْتَغُوٓا۟

wa-ib'taghū

and seek

إِلَيْهِ

ilayhi

towards Him

ٱلْوَسِيلَةَ

l-wasīlata

the means

وَجَـٰهِدُوا۟

wajāhidū

and strive hard

فِى

in

سَبِيلِهِۦ

sabīlihi

His way

لَعَلَّكُمْ

laʿallakum

so that you may

تُفْلِحُونَ

tuf'liḥūna

succeed

36

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَوْ أَنَّ لَهُم مَّا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا وَمِثْلَهُۥ مَعَهُۥ لِيَفْتَدُواْ بِهِۦ مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ مَا تُقُبِّلَ مِنْهُمْ‌ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ ﴿٣٦﴾

كلمة بكلمة

إِنَّ

inna

Indeed

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

those who

كَفَرُوا۟

kafarū

disbelieve

لَوْ

law

if

أَنَّ

anna

that

لَهُم

lahum

for them

مَّا

(is) what

فِى

(is) in

ٱلْأَرْضِ

l-arḍi

the earth

جَمِيعًۭا

jamīʿan

all

وَمِثْلَهُۥ

wamith'lahu

and the like of it

مَعَهُۥ

maʿahu

with it

لِيَفْتَدُوا۟

liyaftadū

to ransom themselves

بِهِۦ

bihi

with it

مِنْ

min

from

عَذَابِ

ʿadhābi

(the) punishment

يَوْمِ

yawmi

(of the) Day

ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ

l-qiyāmati

(of) the Resurrection

مَا

not

تُقُبِّلَ

tuqubbila

will be accepted

مِنْهُمْ ۖ

min'hum

from them

وَلَهُمْ

walahum

and for them

عَذَابٌ

ʿadhābun

(is) a punishment

أَلِيمٌۭ

alīmun

painful

37

يُرِيدُونَ أَن يَخْرُجُواْ مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ وَمَا هُم بِخَـٰرِجِينَ مِنْهَا‌ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّقِيمٌ ﴿٣٧﴾

كلمة بكلمة

يُرِيدُونَ

yurīdūna

They will wish

أَن

an

that

يَخْرُجُوا۟

yakhrujū

they come out

مِنَ

mina

of

ٱلنَّارِ

l-nāri

the Fire

وَمَا

wamā

but not

هُم

hum

they

بِخَـٰرِجِينَ

bikhārijīna

will come out

مِنْهَا ۖ

min'hā

of it

وَلَهُمْ

walahum

And for them

عَذَابٌۭ

ʿadhābun

(is) a punishment

مُّقِيمٌۭ

muqīmun

lasting

38

وَٱلسَّارِقُ وَٱلسَّارِقَةُ فَٱقْطَعُوٓاْ أَيْدِيَهُمَا جَزَآءَۢ بِمَا كَسَبَا نَكَـٰلاً مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ‌ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ ﴿٣٨﴾

كلمة بكلمة

وَٱلسَّارِقُ

wal-sāriqu

And (for) the male thief

وَٱلسَّارِقَةُ

wal-sāriqatu

and the female thief

فَٱقْطَعُوٓا۟

fa-iq'ṭaʿū

[then] cut off

أَيْدِيَهُمَا

aydiyahumā

their hands

جَزَآءًۢ

jazāan

(as) a recompense

بِمَا

bimā

for what

كَسَبَا

kasabā

they earned

نَكَـٰلًۭا

nakālan

(as) an exemplary (punishment)

مِّنَ

mina

from

ٱللَّهِ ۗ

l-lahi

Allah

وَٱللَّهُ

wal-lahu

And Allah

عَزِيزٌ

ʿazīzun

(is) All-Mighty

حَكِيمٌۭ

ḥakīmun

All-Wise

39

فَمَن تَابَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ظُلْمِهِۦ وَأَصْلَحَ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَتُوبُ عَلَيْهِ‌ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ ﴿٣٩﴾

كلمة بكلمة

فَمَن

faman

But whoever

تَابَ

tāba

repented

مِنۢ

min

from

بَعْدِ

baʿdi

after

ظُلْمِهِۦ

ẓul'mihi

his wrongdoing

وَأَصْلَحَ

wa-aṣlaḥa

and reforms

فَإِنَّ

fa-inna

then indeed

ٱللَّهَ

l-laha

Allah

يَتُوبُ

yatūbu

will turn in forgiveness

عَلَيْهِ ۗ

ʿalayhi

to him

إِنَّ

inna

Indeed

ٱللَّهَ

l-laha

Allah

غَفُورٌۭ

ghafūrun

(is) Oft-Forgiving

رَّحِيمٌ

raḥīmun

Most Merciful

40

أَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ يُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَغْفِرُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ‌ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ ﴿٤٠﴾

كلمة بكلمة

أَلَمْ

alam

Do not

تَعْلَمْ

taʿlam

you know

أَنَّ

anna

that

ٱللَّهَ

l-laha

Allah

لَهُۥ

lahu

to Him (belongs)

مُلْكُ

mul'ku

(the) dominion

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

l-samāwāti

(of) the heavens

وَٱلْأَرْضِ

wal-arḍi

and the earth

يُعَذِّبُ

yuʿadhibu

He punishes

مَن

man

whom

يَشَآءُ

yashāu

He wills

وَيَغْفِرُ

wayaghfiru

and He forgives

لِمَن

liman

[to] whom

يَشَآءُ ۗ

yashāu

He wills

وَٱللَّهُ

wal-lahu

And Allah

عَلَىٰ

ʿalā

(is) on

كُلِّ

kulli

every

شَىْءٍۢ

shayin

thing

قَدِيرٌۭ

qadīrun

All-Powerful

41

۞ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلرَّسُولُ لَا يَحْزُنكَ ٱلَّذِينَ يُسَـٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلْكُفْرِ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓاْ ءَامَنَّا بِأَفْوَٲهِهِمْ وَلَمْ تُؤْمِن قُلُوبُهُمْ‌ۛ وَمِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُواْ‌ۛ سَمَّـٰعُونَ لِلْكَذِبِ سَمَّـٰعُونَ لِقَوْمٍ ءَاخَرِينَ لَمْ يَأْتُوكَ‌ۖ يُحَرِّفُونَ ٱلْكَلِمَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَوَاضِعِهِۦ‌ۖ يَقُولُونَ إِنْ أُوتِيتُمْ هَـٰذَا فَخُذُوهُ وَإِن لَّمْ تُؤْتَوْهُ فَٱحْذَرُواْ‌ۚ وَمَن يُرِدِ ٱللَّهُ فِتْنَتَهُۥ فَلَن تَمْلِكَ لَهُۥ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيْــًٔا‌ۚ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَمْ يُرِدِ ٱللَّهُ أَن يُطَهِّرَ قُلُوبَهُمْ‌ۚ لَهُمْ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا خِزْىٌ‌ۖ وَلَهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ ﴿٤١﴾

كلمة بكلمة

۞ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا

yāayyuhā

O

ٱلرَّسُولُ

l-rasūlu

Messenger

لَا

Let not

يَحْزُنكَ

yaḥzunka

grieve you

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

those who

يُسَـٰرِعُونَ

yusāriʿūna

hasten

فِى

in (to)

ٱلْكُفْرِ

l-kuf'ri

[the] disbelief

مِنَ

mina

of

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

those who

قَالُوٓا۟

qālū

said

ءَامَنَّا

āmannā

We believe

بِأَفْوَٰهِهِمْ

bi-afwāhihim

with their mouths

وَلَمْ

walam

and not

تُؤْمِن

tu'min

believe

قُلُوبُهُمْ ۛ

qulūbuhum

their hearts

وَمِنَ

wamina

and from

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

those who

هَادُوا۟ ۛ

hādū

(are) Jews

سَمَّـٰعُونَ

sammāʿūna

They (are) listeners

لِلْكَذِبِ

lil'kadhibi

to falsehood

سَمَّـٰعُونَ

sammāʿūna

(and) listeners

لِقَوْمٍ

liqawmin

for people

ءَاخَرِينَ

ākharīna

other

لَمْ

lam

(who have) not

يَأْتُوكَ ۖ

yatūka

come to you

يُحَرِّفُونَ

yuḥarrifūna

They distort

ٱلْكَلِمَ

l-kalima

the words

يَقُولُونَ

yaqūlūna

saying

إِنْ

in

If

أُوتِيتُمْ

ūtītum

you are given

هَـٰذَا

hādhā

this

فَخُذُوهُ

fakhudhūhu

[so] take it

وَإِن

wa-in

but if

لَّمْ

lam

not

تُؤْتَوْهُ

tu'tawhu

you are given it

فَٱحْذَرُوا۟ ۚ

fa-iḥ'dharū

then beware

وَمَن

waman

And (for) whom

يُرِدِ

yuridi

intends

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

فِتْنَتَهُۥ

fit'natahu

his trial

فَلَن

falan

then never

تَمْلِكَ

tamlika

will you have power

لَهُۥ

lahu

for him

مِنَ

mina

against

ٱللَّهِ

l-lahi

Allah

شَيْـًٔا ۚ

shayan

anything

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

ulāika

Those

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

(are) the ones

لَمْ

lam

never

يُرِدِ

yuridi

will intend

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

أَن

an

that

يُطَهِّرَ

yuṭahhira

He purifies

قُلُوبَهُمْ ۚ

qulūbahum

their hearts

لَهُمْ

lahum

For them

فِى

in

ٱلدُّنْيَا

l-dun'yā

the world

خِزْىٌۭ ۖ

khiz'yun

(is) disgrace

وَلَهُمْ

walahum

and for them

فِى

in

ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ

l-ākhirati

the Hereafter

عَذَابٌ

ʿadhābun

(is) a punishment

عَظِيمٌۭ

ʿaẓīmun

great

42

سَمَّـٰعُونَ لِلْكَذِبِ أَكَّـٰلُونَ لِلسُّحْتِ‌ۚ فَإِن جَآءُوكَ فَٱحْكُم بَيْنَهُمْ أَوْ أَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ‌ۖ وَإِن تُعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ فَلَن يَضُرُّوكَ شَيْــًٔا‌ۖ وَإِنْ حَكَمْتَ فَٱحْكُم بَيْنَهُم بِٱلْقِسْطِ‌ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُقْسِطِينَ ﴿٤٢﴾

كلمة بكلمة

سَمَّـٰعُونَ

sammāʿūna

Listeners

لِلْكَذِبِ

lil'kadhibi

to [the] falsehood

أَكَّـٰلُونَ

akkālūna

devourers

لِلسُّحْتِ ۚ

lilssuḥ'ti

of the forbidden

فَإِن

fa-in

So if

جَآءُوكَ

jāūka

they come to you

فَٱحْكُم

fa-uḥ'kum

then judge

بَيْنَهُمْ

baynahum

between them

أَوْ

aw

or

أَعْرِضْ

aʿriḍ

turn away

عَنْهُمْ ۖ

ʿanhum

from them

وَإِن

wa-in

And if

تُعْرِضْ

tuʿ'riḍ

you turn away

عَنْهُمْ

ʿanhum

from them

فَلَن

falan

then never

يَضُرُّوكَ

yaḍurrūka

will they harm you

شَيْـًۭٔا ۖ

shayan

(in) anything

وَإِنْ

wa-in

And if

حَكَمْتَ

ḥakamta

you judge

فَٱحْكُم

fa-uḥ'kum

then judge

بَيْنَهُم

baynahum

between them

بِٱلْقِسْطِ ۚ

bil-qis'ṭi

with [the] justice

إِنَّ

inna

Indeed

ٱللَّهَ

l-laha

Allah

يُحِبُّ

yuḥibbu

loves

ٱلْمُقْسِطِينَ

l-muq'siṭīna

the ones who are just

43

وَكَيْفَ يُحَكِّمُونَكَ وَعِندَهُمُ ٱلتَّوْرَٮٰةُ فِيهَا حُكْمُ ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ يَتَوَلَّوْنَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٲلِكَ‌ۚ وَمَآ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ﴿٤٣﴾

كلمة بكلمة

وَكَيْفَ

wakayfa

But how can

يُحَكِّمُونَكَ

yuḥakkimūnaka

they appoint you a judge

وَعِندَهُمُ

waʿindahumu

while they (have) with them

ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةُ

l-tawrātu

the Taurat

فِيهَا

fīhā

in it

حُكْمُ

ḥuk'mu

(is the) Command

ٱللَّهِ

l-lahi

(of) Allah

ثُمَّ

thumma

Then

يَتَوَلَّوْنَ

yatawallawna

they turn away

مِنۢ

min

from

بَعْدِ

baʿdi

after

ذَٰلِكَ ۚ

dhālika

that

وَمَآ

wamā

and not

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

ulāika

those

بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

bil-mu'minīna

(are) the believers

44

إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَا ٱلتَّوْرَٮٰةَ فِيهَا هُدًى وَنُورٌ‌ۚ يَحْكُمُ بِهَا ٱلنَّبِيُّونَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسْلَمُواْ لِلَّذِينَ هَادُواْ وَٱلرَّبَّـٰنِيُّونَ وَٱلْأَحْبَارُ بِمَا ٱسْتُحْفِظُواْ مِن كِتَـٰبِ ٱللَّهِ وَكَانُواْ عَلَيْهِ شُهَدَآءَ‌ۚ فَلَا تَخْشَوُاْ ٱلنَّاسَ وَٱخْشَوْنِ وَلَا تَشْتَرُواْ بِـَٔـايَـٰتِى ثَمَنًا قَلِيلاً‌ۚ وَمَن لَّمْ يَحْكُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ ﴿٤٤﴾

إِنَّآ

innā

Indeed

أَنزَلْنَا

anzalnā

We revealed

ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ

l-tawrāta

the Taurat

فِيهَا

fīhā

in it

هُدًۭى

hudan

(was) Guidance

وَنُورٌۭ ۚ

wanūrun

and light

يَحْكُمُ

yaḥkumu

judged

بِهَا

bihā

by it

ٱلنَّبِيُّونَ

l-nabiyūna

the Prophets

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhīna

those who

أَسْلَمُوا۟

aslamū

had submitted (to Allah)

لِلَّذِينَ

lilladhīna

for those who

هَادُوا۟

hādū

were Jews

وَٱلرَّبَّـٰنِيُّونَ

wal-rabāniyūna

and the Rabbis

وَٱلْأَحْبَارُ

wal-aḥbāru

and the scholars

بِمَا

bimā

with what

ٱسْتُحْفِظُوا۟

us'tuḥ'fiẓū

they were entrusted

مِن

min

of

كِتَـٰبِ

kitābi

(the) Book

ٱللَّهِ

l-lahi

(of) Allah

وَكَانُوا۟

wakānū

and they were

عَلَيْهِ

ʿalayhi

to it

شُهَدَآءَ ۚ

shuhadāa

witnesses

فَلَا

falā

So (do) not

تَخْشَوُا۟

takhshawū

fear

ٱلنَّاسَ

l-nāsa

the people

وَٱخْشَوْنِ

wa-ikh'shawni

but fear Me

وَلَا

walā

and (do) not

تَشْتَرُوا۟

tashtarū

sell

بِـَٔايَـٰتِى

biāyātī

My Verses

ثَمَنًۭا

thamanan

(for) a price

قَلِيلًۭا ۚ

qalīlan

little

وَمَن

waman

And whoever

لَّمْ

lam

(does) not

يَحْكُم

yaḥkum

judge

بِمَآ

bimā

by what

أَنزَلَ

anzala

has revealed

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

fa-ulāika

then those

هُمُ

humu

[they]

ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ

l-kāfirūna

(are) the disbelievers

45

وَكَتَبْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ فِيهَآ أَنَّ ٱلنَّفْسَ بِٱلنَّفْسِ وَٱلْعَيْنَ بِٱلْعَيْنِ وَٱلْأَنفَ بِٱلْأَنفِ وَٱلْأُذُنَ بِٱلْأُذُنِ وَٱلسِّنَّ بِٱلسِّنِّ وَٱلْجُرُوحَ قِصَاصٌ‌ۚ فَمَن تَصَدَّقَ بِهِۦ فَهُوَ كَفَّارَةٌ لَّهُۥ‌ۚ وَمَن لَّمْ يَحْكُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ ﴿٤٥﴾

كلمة بكلمة

وَكَتَبْنَا

wakatabnā

And We ordained

عَلَيْهِمْ

ʿalayhim

for them

فِيهَآ

fīhā

in it

أَنَّ

anna

that

ٱلنَّفْسَ

l-nafsa

the life

بِٱلنَّفْسِ

bil-nafsi

for the life

وَٱلْعَيْنَ

wal-ʿayna

and the eye

بِٱلْعَيْنِ

bil-ʿayni

for the eye

وَٱلْأَنفَ

wal-anfa

and the nose

بِٱلْأَنفِ

bil-anfi

for the nose

وَٱلْأُذُنَ

wal-udhuna

and the ear

بِٱلْأُذُنِ

bil-udhuni

for the ear

وَٱلسِّنَّ

wal-sina

and the tooth

بِٱلسِّنِّ

bil-sini

for the tooth

وَٱلْجُرُوحَ

wal-jurūḥa

and (for) wounds

قِصَاصٌۭ ۚ

qiṣāṣun

(is) retribution

فَمَن

faman

But whoever

تَصَدَّقَ

taṣaddaqa

gives charity

بِهِۦ

bihi

with it

فَهُوَ

fahuwa

then it is

كَفَّارَةٌۭ

kaffāratun

an expiation

لَّهُۥ ۚ

lahu

for him

وَمَن

waman

And whoever

لَّمْ

lam

(does) not

يَحْكُم

yaḥkum

judge

بِمَآ

bimā

by what

أَنزَلَ

anzala

has revealed

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

fa-ulāika

then those

هُمُ

humu

[they]

ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ

l-ẓālimūna

(are) the wrongdoers

46

وَقَفَّيْنَا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَـٰرِهِم بِعِيسَى ٱبْنِ مَرْيَمَ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلتَّوْرَٮٰةِ‌ۖ وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ ٱلْإِنجِيلَ فِيهِ هُدًى وَنُورٌ وَمُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلتَّوْرَٮٰةِ وَهُدًى وَمَوْعِظَةً لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ ﴿٤٦﴾

كلمة بكلمة

وَقَفَّيْنَا

waqaffaynā

And We sent

عَلَىٰٓ

ʿalā

on

ءَاثَـٰرِهِم

āthārihim

their footsteps

بِعِيسَى

biʿīsā

Isa

ٱبْنِ

ib'ni

son

مَرْيَمَ

maryama

(of) Maryam

مُصَدِّقًۭا

muṣaddiqan

confirming

لِّمَا

limā

what

بَيْنَ

bayna

(was) between

يَدَيْهِ

yadayhi

his hands

مِنَ

mina

of

ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ ۖ

l-tawrāti

the Taurat

وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ

waātaynāhu

and We gave him

ٱلْإِنجِيلَ

l-injīla

the Injeel

فِيهِ

fīhi

in it

هُدًۭى

hudan

(was) Guidance

وَنُورٌۭ

wanūrun

and light

وَمُصَدِّقًۭا

wamuṣaddiqan

and confirming

لِّمَا

limā

what

بَيْنَ

bayna

(was) between

يَدَيْهِ

yadayhi

his hands

مِنَ

mina

of

ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ

l-tawrāti

the Taurat

وَهُدًۭى

wahudan

and a Guidance

وَمَوْعِظَةًۭ

wamawʿiẓatan

and an admonition

لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ

lil'muttaqīna

for the God conscious

47

وَلْيَحْكُمْ أَهْلُ ٱلْإِنجِيلِ بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ فِيهِ‌ۚ وَمَن لَّمْ يَحْكُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْفَـٰسِقُونَ ﴿٤٧﴾

كلمة بكلمة

وَلْيَحْكُمْ

walyaḥkum

And let judge

أَهْلُ

ahlu

(the) People

ٱلْإِنجِيلِ

l-injīli

(of) the Injeel

بِمَآ

bimā

by what

أَنزَلَ

anzala

has revealed

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

فِيهِ ۚ

fīhi

in it

وَمَن

waman

And whoever

لَّمْ

lam

(does) not

يَحْكُم

yaḥkum

judge

بِمَآ

bimā

by what

أَنزَلَ

anzala

has revealed

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

fa-ulāika

then those

هُمُ

humu

[they] (are)

ٱلْفَـٰسِقُونَ

l-fāsiqūna

the defiantly disobedient

48

وَأَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ بِٱلْحَقِّ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ وَمُهَيْمِنًا عَلَيْهِ‌ۖ فَٱحْكُم بَيْنَهُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ‌ۖ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ عَمَّا جَآءَكَ مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ‌ۚ لِكُلٍّ جَعَلْنَا مِنكُمْ شِرْعَةً وَمِنْهَاجًا‌ۚ وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَجَعَلَكُمْ أُمَّةً وَٲحِدَةً وَلَـٰكِن لِّيَبْلُوَكُمْ فِى مَآ ءَاتَـٰكُمْ‌ۖ فَٱسْتَبِقُواْ ٱلْخَيْرَٲتِ‌ۚ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ جَمِيعًا فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ فِيهِ تَخْتَلِفُونَ ﴿٤٨﴾

وَأَنزَلْنَآ

wa-anzalnā

And We revealed

إِلَيْكَ

ilayka

to you

ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ

l-kitāba

the Book

بِٱلْحَقِّ

bil-ḥaqi

in [the] truth

مُصَدِّقًۭا

muṣaddiqan

confirming

لِّمَا

limā

what

بَيْنَ

bayna

(was) before

يَدَيْهِ

yadayhi

his hands

مِنَ

mina

of

ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ

l-kitābi

the Book

وَمُهَيْمِنًا

wamuhayminan

and a guardian

عَلَيْهِ ۖ

ʿalayhi

over it

فَٱحْكُم

fa-uḥ'kum

So judge

بَيْنَهُم

baynahum

between them

بِمَآ

bimā

by what

أَنزَلَ

anzala

has revealed

ٱللَّهُ ۖ

l-lahu

Allah

وَلَا

walā

and (do) not

تَتَّبِعْ

tattabiʿ

follow

أَهْوَآءَهُمْ

ahwāahum

their vain desires

عَمَّا

ʿammā

when

جَآءَكَ

jāaka

has come to you

مِنَ

mina

of

ٱلْحَقِّ ۚ

l-ḥaqi

the truth

لِكُلٍّۢ

likullin

For each

جَعَلْنَا

jaʿalnā

We have made

مِنكُمْ

minkum

for you

شِرْعَةًۭ

shir'ʿatan

a law

وَمِنْهَاجًۭا ۚ

wamin'hājan

and a clear way

وَلَوْ

walaw

And if

شَآءَ

shāa

(had) willed

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

لَجَعَلَكُمْ

lajaʿalakum

He (would have) made you

أُمَّةًۭ

ummatan

a community

وَٰحِدَةًۭ

wāḥidatan

one

وَلَـٰكِن

walākin

[and] but

لِّيَبْلُوَكُمْ

liyabluwakum

to test you

فِى

in

مَآ

what

ءَاتَىٰكُمْ ۖ

ātākum

He (has) given you

فَٱسْتَبِقُوا۟

fa-is'tabiqū

so race

ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ ۚ

l-khayrāti

(to) the good

إِلَى

ilā

To

ٱللَّهِ

l-lahi

Allah

مَرْجِعُكُمْ

marjiʿukum

you will return

جَمِيعًۭا

jamīʿan

all

فَيُنَبِّئُكُم

fayunabbi-ukum

then He will inform you

بِمَا

bimā

of what

كُنتُمْ

kuntum

you were

فِيهِ

fīhi

concerning it

تَخْتَلِفُونَ

takhtalifūna

differing

49

وَأَنِ ٱحْكُم بَيْنَهُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ وَٱحْذَرْهُمْ أَن يَفْتِنُوكَ عَنۢ بَعْضِ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ إِلَيْكَ‌ۖ فَإِن تَوَلَّوْاْ فَٱعْلَمْ أَنَّمَا يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ أَن يُصِيبَهُم بِبَعْضِ ذُنُوبِهِمْ‌ۗ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَفَـٰسِقُونَ ﴿٤٩﴾

كلمة بكلمة

وَأَنِ

wa-ani

And that

ٱحْكُم

uḥ'kum

you judge

بَيْنَهُم

baynahum

between them

بِمَآ

bimā

by what

أَنزَلَ

anzala

(has) revealed

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

وَلَا

walā

and (do) not

تَتَّبِعْ

tattabiʿ

follow

أَهْوَآءَهُمْ

ahwāahum

their vain desires

وَٱحْذَرْهُمْ

wa-iḥ'dharhum

and beware of them

أَن

an

lest

يَفْتِنُوكَ

yaftinūka

they tempt you away

عَنۢ

ʿan

from

بَعْضِ

baʿḍi

some

مَآ

(of) what

أَنزَلَ

anzala

has revealed

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

إِلَيْكَ ۖ

ilayka

to you

فَإِن

fa-in

And if

تَوَلَّوْا۟

tawallaw

they turn away

فَٱعْلَمْ

fa-iʿ'lam

then know that

أَنَّمَا

annamā

only

يُرِيدُ

yurīdu

intends

ٱللَّهُ

l-lahu

Allah

أَن

an

to

يُصِيبَهُم

yuṣībahum

afflict them

بِبَعْضِ

bibaʿḍi

for some

ذُنُوبِهِمْ ۗ

dhunūbihim

(of) their sins

وَإِنَّ

wa-inna

And indeed

كَثِيرًۭا

kathīran

many

مِّنَ

mina

of

ٱلنَّاسِ

l-nāsi

the people

لَفَـٰسِقُونَ

lafāsiqūna

(are) defiantly disobedient

50

أَفَحُكْمَ ٱلْجَـٰهِلِيَّةِ يَبْغُونَ‌ۚ وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ حُكْمًا لِّقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَ ﴿٥٠﴾

كلمة بكلمة

أَفَحُكْمَ

afaḥuk'ma

Is it then the judgment

ٱلْجَـٰهِلِيَّةِ

l-jāhiliyati

(of the time of) ignorance

يَبْغُونَ ۚ

yabghūna

they seek

وَمَنْ

waman

And who (is)

أَحْسَنُ

aḥsanu

better

مِنَ

mina

than

ٱللَّهِ

l-lahi

Allah

حُكْمًۭا

ḥuk'man

(in) judgment

لِّقَوْمٍۢ

liqawmin

for a people

يُوقِنُونَ

yūqinūna

(who) firmly believe
